Dealing with stress

I sit in my office and listen to big band jazz from shoutcast radio. It calms me. Most of the people I voted for lost yesterday. Does this mean I'm out of touch with society or that society is out of touch with what I believe in?

Good question.

Its probably along the lines of: American Society is changing drastically. There are really 3 different beliefs all pulling at each other now.

You have the far left liberals, who preach science, enviornmental issues, womens rights, etc.

You have the Far right Neo-Conservatives who tend to let their religious beliefs influence their politics.

You have the traditional conservatives who want to see more freedoms, less federal laws, civil rights protected and a smaller federal government .. much like our founding fathers originally pictured.

These three belief structures seem to be the dominant ones right now and none of them are compatible with each other.

Liberals want to spend tons of money to pass federal laws. Usually these laws deal with protecting 'something' ... peoples health, trees, mom-n-pop companies, welfare, etc ... (This is the Al Gore kinda thinking)

Neo-Conservatives want to spen tons of money to pass federal laws. Usually these laws are aimed at restricting freedoms. Patriot act, pro-life campaigns, etc ... (This is the George Bush crew)

True conservatives don't want to see new federal laws, want to see the federal government pass more power to the state and local governments and stop wasting money.(This is the Thomas Jerserson way, sadly he is not alive right now to fix things)

Good ol' TJ might roll over in his grave about the expansion of copyright and patent laws too.
