Blame is to blame
It seems like politics today is all about blame. To me, it seems that Democrats won majority in Congress on blame, not on ideas for change. I know there is a thin line between the two, but let me set the stage about that. Democrats are blaming the president for the troubles in Iraq. What does that accomplish other than build themselves up by putting someone else down? They agreed with him based on the intelligence that was available at the time. The occupation of Iraq hasn't gone well, so instead of coming up with viable alternatives (rapid withdrawal or redeployment is not a viable alternative as it would cause a massive bloodletting and horrible loss of life).
On the other hand, it seems like republican pundits like Rush and Hannity like to point out the faults of all the liberals, placing blame on them as well.
Shouldn't we be more interested in the problems that are before us and their solutions rather than who caused the problems? Who cares who caused the problems unless they are likely to do it again or did it for nefarious reasons? How do you determine if "mistakes" were made or problems created for nefarious reasons? Fix the dang problems! Don't blame each other for everything under the sun. Shouldn't politicians be proposing and debating solutions? Shouldn't presidents be taking executive action? Shouldn't the judiciary be applying the laws that exist? Why are they trying to do everyone elses job? The political machine that is in place today is disheartening to me. It seems that special interest groups and rich campaign contributors, and the politicians themselves are the only interests that get served in government today.
Happy Valentines day. *grumble grumble*

While i'm 99% sure i sit on the opposite side of the fence as you politically, i agree with you completely ... that is, that is something horribly wrong right now.
I'm not a democrat ... i hate their politics as much as i hate the republicans politics.
I'm extremely liberal by todays standards, but extremely conservative by 1776 standards.
Basically, from what I can tell the 2 parties boil down to this:
"We need to make the government as big as possible to protect and help American citizens"
The difference is in how they want to accomplish it.
Democrats want a ton of programs to help people, that eat tax dollars and end up hurting america in many ways for many generations.
Republicans want a ton of programs that limit civil rights and personal freedoms.
Pick your poison. I don't want either. To me one is as bad as the other.
Until people realize that the party system we have in place now isn't working I firmly believe that any real progress forward is not only hard but impossible.
The basis of that? Blame. Each party wants control to push its own agenda.
You can't be Pro-Life yet support Pro-Choice in this country. You can't be agnostic yet be a good person that supports religion. You can't Support the death penalty and be liberal. Each ...
Its a crock.
i WANT to vote for the people that will help america. I don't care if its some no name bum with no money. If his ideas are the best, I want to give him the chance to fix this country.
Sorry for the rant.
There are other points you make that I disgree with strongly. Whats the point? Not gonna fix anything to place more blame :).
