Troopergate, what's the big deal?

Am I missing something with this whole scandal or is the chief executive being accused of firing someone under her purview? Why is this an abuse of power? I certainly can't harass my boss and expect to keep my job. Why is this different? It appears this trooper tasered an 11 year-old which is cause enough anyways. And from what more I'm hearing, she only brought pressure to the issue and left it in the court of her underling in charge of the troopers without actually saying "fire him", although I believe she could have and it would have been within her mandate as chief executive.

If what palin is saying is true, then there is no issue here.

The issue lies with the accusation that Palin fired a commissioner for not firing her ex-brother-in-law. The reasons for firing the brother in law have also been brought into question, since the formal charges were mostly found to be false the accusation is that she wanted him fired because of personal reasons and not professional.

Like i said, if Palin is telling the truth there is no issue. If it comes to light that it was due to the 'personal' reasons, then there is an issue.

Troopergate is only the tip of the iceberg though. Between firing librarians for not banning books and making rape victims buy their own rape kits instead of charging the offenders, and several other issues that have come up ... its easy to 'believe' the accusations in troopergate. At least from this said of the fence.

To me, its one of those things I would like to see that scandal resolved before the elections and her name cleared of wrong doing. Electing someone into the VP spot while they are involved in an investigation like that bothers me a lot.

You mean investigation as in investigative reporting. There is no formal investigation here, because there is no evidence of wrongdoing. You have media blowing smoke and digging up dirt, due to the increased scrutiny of being a VP candidate. If this is the case and it's just people digging up dirt, you can be assured it won't be "resolved" at least in the dirt sellers minds for as long as it is bought. And as long as there are enemies to her camp, which is as long as the campaign continues (or even after election) this will continue at least in some minds. I've seen it with Bush and Clinton as well. Dirt doesn't go away if it can be sold cheap. There are still people buying the trade center bombing as a scam and Obama is a muslim. (Stupid people, but sometimes voters and that's scary.)
