If I were to run for president

Not that I am.  I wouldn't want that curse.  Maybe this is just a list of what I'd like to see in a president's agenda.

  • No legislative agenda:  What is is about recent Presidents trying to change laws?  Isn't this Congress' job?  There would only be one exception to this.  I would like to see a line item veto power added to the presidency.  I think that's a fair exchange for giving the legislature back it's power and responsibility to legislate.
  • Veto bills that are not focused on one subject.  Riders are what is broken about the legislature.  If the bill is so bad that you have to buy votes, it shouldn't pass.
  • Pass all other bills that don't contain "gotchas" or hidden surprises that would significantly harm the country.  Even bills that I disagree with.  Let the legislators be held responsible.  It is not the president's job to handcuff Congress but to provide checks to them getting out of control and power hungry.
  • Enforce all constitutional federal laws.  "The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly." --Abaraham Lincoln
  • Reduce the size of administration and reduce regulation that is attached to administration.  Force vague enforcement mandates from the legislation to be clarified preventing regulatory policies from replacing legislation.  This regulatory discretion causes the rules to change with each administration forcing industries to either "buddy up" to administrators (which is unhealthy and promotes corruption) or guess what policies will be in order to create strategies around the government.
