On grues

Grues are enigmatic monsters that only live in the dark. This much is well documented by userfriendly. However, what are the distinguishing characteristics of a grue? We can infer there characteristics from the word "gruesome", which when examining the roots of the word means "like a grue". Wordnet defines gruesome as:

Adjective

* S: (adj) ghastly, grim, grisly, gruesome, macabre, sick (shockingly repellent; inspiring horror) "ghastly wounds"; "the grim aftermath of the bombing"; "the grim task of burying the victims"; "a grisly murder"; "gruesome evidence of human sacrifice"; "macabre tales of war and plague in the Middle ages"; "macabre tortures conceived by madmen"

Putting all this together we can infer that a grue is ghastly, grim, macabre, sick, shockingly repellent, horror inspiring, likely to create ghastly wounds and hang out in the dark aftermath of war and plague and torture victims in a maniacal, macabre way, eventually sacrificing them to the dark. Due to it's dislike for the light we can also infer it is either grotesquely deformed or has a very bad light sensitivity, or both.

Now don't ask me where this dark thought came from, I just thought the record was a little unclear as to the nature of the grue. Don't fear the dark, all accounts of grues are fictional.
